The Death Cure by James Dashner

The Death Cure (Maze Runner, #3)
The Death Cure by James Dashner
Published: October 11th 2011
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Pages hardcover: 325

Thomas knows that Wicked can't be trusted, but they say the time for lies is over, that they've collected all they can from the Trials and now must rely on the Gladers, with full memories restored, to help them with their ultimate mission. It's up to the Gladers to complete the blueprint for the cure to the Flare with a final voluntary test.
What Wicked doesn't know is that something's happened that no Trial or Variable could have foreseen. Thomas has remembered far more than they think. And he knows that he can't believe a word of what Wicked says.
The time for lies is over. But the truth is more dangerous than Thomas could ever imagine. Will anyone survive the Death Cure?

This is one of my favorite series and the third book didn't disappoint. Where the first book is all about the mystery, the second all about who to be trusted, the third one was all about the action. I didn't know once what was going to happen and I was on the edge of my seat. This series is so different and unique and I love James Dashner's 'to the point'-writing style.

In this book we grow closer to the characters that were introduced in the Scorch Trials, but the old characters were still in the picture. I'm a sucker for Minho and there was more than enough of him in the book (for all of you who are fan of him too). I grew to like Brenda more, but in my heart I was still rooting for Theresa. In the end, though, I was happy with the ending of the book. It was how it was supposed to be, even though some of the events in the book broke my heart.

I also really liked Thomas. I know that some of you don't really like him, because he doesn't really show emotions, but that's just him. Sometimes that annoyed me in the Death Cure, but it is also what makes him braver and stronger. Overall I really love his character (but not as much as Minho's!)

This book and the Maze Runner were my favorite out of the series and I definitely recommend the Death Cure. If you ask me, this is a 5 star serie for sure! I can't wait for the prequel the Kill Order to come out.

5 out of 5 stars!

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)
Shatter Me by Tahere Mafi

Pages hardcover: 338 (US)

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

After a lifetime without freedom, she's finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time—and to find a future with the one boy she thought she'd lost forever.
I just recently finished this book and I have to say, it didn't dissapoint. This book captivated me from the first page and it kept growing on me. It was so different than I expected, but in a good way.

I liked Tahereh's writing style most of the time. The crossed out words were nice and made for funny moments sometimes. The only thing I didn't like that much were the repitions of words without comma's. It annoyed the crap out of me sometimes. Luckily enough, I was able to skim through that, because otherwise I would have missed out on a great book.

Juliette was an awesome heroine. I felt so sorry for her the first couple of chapters, but I liked how she handled things. She was one of the sweetest girl, while having to deal with so much. I really admired her for that. Alex, the love interest, was also quite nice. He is a strong and caring guy and I really liked that about him. But my favorite had to be Warner. Never have I loved a villain as much as I did with Warner. You can see how evil and twisted he is, but I also felt sorry for him. I really believe that he wanted to be loved as much as Juliette wanted to be.

The storyline itself is good too. I liked the setting and am curious to see where the next book takes us. But I am most excited to read more about Warner!

4 out of 5 stars.

Another book blog?!

Yes, I know, another book blog, but well. If you like it, why not do it. I blogged multiple times before and I really like it and I have a great passion voor books. More of an addiction actually.

Fun fact: I'm not American, Canadian or British. My English might not be correct all the time, but well. It is my second language, so you'll have to excuse me. I'm Dutch by the way (the Netherland, Holland, that little country next to Germany).

Oh, and I'm a 19 year old girl. I hope you stick with me :)
